Estimated first date of symptoms is June 30. CDM is in a commercial field of cucumber in Henry County, OH. Incidence is 1% and severity is 10%. Estimated first date of symptoms is July 4.

New Report from GA: CDM has been confirmed in the sentinel plot near the Toombs / Tattnall County border in southeast GA. Infection is present on both cucumber varieties; the Straight 8 is heavily infected and the Poinsett 76 much less so. First symptoms are estimated at June 30. There is also epidemic spread reported from previously infected sentinel plots in several other NC counties.

Estimated first date of symptoms is June 20. CDM is on cucumber and cantaloupe in a home garden in Harnett County, NC. Incidence is 100% and severity is 60%. Estimated first date of symtpoms is June 23.

First report from Canada in 2009. New Reports from NC: CDM has been confirmed in a 5-acre field of cucumber in Chatham-Kent county in southern Ontario, near the town of Dresden. Incidence and severity are estimated at 18% and 2%. First symptoms appeared around June 25. Bertie County, NC (10-acre commercial field, 2% incidence, 5% severity) and Hertford County, NC (40-acre commercial field, 2% incidence, 2% severity) are confirmed for CDM on cucumber. First sypmtoms estimated at June 27 in Bertie County, June 22 in Hertford County. Updates: Butternut squash is infected in the Henry County, AL sentinel plot. A small research plot near Charleston, SC has CDM on acorn and summer/yellow squash, discovered at the end of a spray trial for powdery mildew. Symptoms appeared one week ago. Inicidence and severity are both low, and the field will be destroyed this week.

June 26
New Reports from NC and VA: CDM has been discovered in a 80-acre commercial field of cucumber in Duplin County, NC. Incidence and severity are at 95% and 10%. First symptoms estimated at June 18. CDM has been confirmed in a 1-acre field of cucumber near the town of Petersburg, VA. Incidence and severity are at 50% and 20%, respectively. First symptoms estimated at June 20. The sentinel plot in New Hanover County, NC has gone positive for CDM on Poinsett 76 cucumber. First symptoms estimated at June 22. New Reports from NC, LA, AL, and VA: CDM has been discovered in a 52-acre commercial field(s) of cucumber in Johnston County, NC. Incidence and severity are at 15% and 10%. Hot spots are evident in one field and others are showing symptoms, which are estimated to have first appeared around June 19. A 26-acre field of cucumber is infected in Wayne County, NC. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared June 9. Incidence is 100%, with severity at 35%. CDM is confirmed in the sentinel plot in Escambia County, AL on butternut squash. All plants are symptomatic; first appearance is estimated at June 7. Northampton County, VA is the second VA county with confirmed CDM. A 150-acre commercial field of cucumber is lightly infected, with incidence and severity at 5% and 1%, respectively. First symptoms are estimated at June 20. CDM is present in Acadia Parish, LA. A 25-acre commercial field of cantaloupe is showing 100% incidence. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared around June 10.

New Report from NC: CDM has been confirmed in a 10-acre research plot in Sampson County, NC on cucumber. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared around June 10. Incidence and severity are between 10-15%. Update from FL: The Gadsden County sentinel plot now has disease present on both varieties of cucumber, both varieties of squash, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Severity among the hosts ranges from 10% to 50%.

Incidence and severity are 40% and 25%, respectively, in the commercial field. Symptoms appeared around June 15. The infection is very light in the research plot, with symptoms appearing June 17. New Report from SC. Downy mildew has been confirmed in Clarendon County, SC in a commercial field of cucumbers. Incidence and severity are both 50%. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared around June 12.

June 15
First reports from AL and SC: CDM has been confirmed in Henry County, AL and Charleston County, SC. The AL report is from a sentinel plot of butternut squash near the town of Headland. Incidence is 25%; severity is 1%. Symptoms were estimated to have first appeared on June 6. The SC report comes from a 0.1 acre sentinel plot of butternut squash near Charleston. Incidence is 6%; severity is 2%. The report indicates that symptoms first appeared on June 13 with abundant sporulation occuring.

June 12
First report from LA: CDM was confirmed on a 200 sq. ft. home garden plot of canteloupe in the town of Abbeville in Vermilion County, LA on June 10. Active sporulation is occurring and the disease has spread noticeably since it was first observed on June 2. Incidence is 40%; severity is 15%. New report from Gadsden County, FL. CDM was confirmed on a 200 sq. ft. sentinel plot of cucumbers and butternut squash near the town of Quincy on June 12. Incidence is 5%; severity is 1%. Symptoms first appeared on June 11. New report from Columbus County, NC. CDM was confirmed on a large commercial field of cucumbers in the town of Clarendon on June 12. Severity is 50%. Symptoms were estimated to have first appeared on May 29. Plants most severely infected were destroyed on June 10. New report from Tift County, GA. CDM was confirmed on a 0.1 acre sentinel plot of cucumbers in the town of Tifton on June 12. Incidence is 100%; severity is 20%. Symptoms were estimated to have first appeared on June 10.

First report from CA: CDM was confirmed on cucumbers on a small commercial field in Santa Cruz County, CA. Incidence is 100%; severity is 25%. Symptoms first appeared around June 1.

First report from NC: CDM was confirmed on cucumbers on a large commercial field in Franklin County, NC. Active sporulation is occurring. Recent weather has been favorable. The disease has been present for some time. New report from Orange County, FL. CDM is confirmed on multiple hosts (acorn and butternut squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and giant pumpkin) in the sentinel plot in Opapka, FL. Symptoms are estimated to have first appeared on May 15.

June 3
New report from Suwannee County, FL. CDM was confirmed on butternut squash on a 1-acre research plot in Live Oak, FL. Incidence is 20% and severity is 30%. Active sporulation is occurring. Recent weather has been favorable. First symptoms appeared around May 25. Update from Marion County, FL. CDM has been discovered on butternut squash on the sentinel plot in Citra, FL.

June 1
First reports from GA and TX: CDM has been confirmed in Echols County, GA and Hidalgo County, TX. The GA find is in a 20-acre commercial field of cucumber. Incidence and severity are quite low. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared May 27. The TX report is from a 250-acre commercial field of watermelon in the Rio Grande Valley region. Incidence and severity are 0.5%. Symptoms appeared this morning. Observers indicate that CDM is probably present in other commercial fields in the area.

May 29
Update from Marion County, FL. CDM was discovered on cantaloupe in the sentinel plot near Citra. Initial infection was estimated to have occurred around May 21.

May 27
New report from Hillsborough County, FL. CDM was recently confirmed on squash, cantaloupe, and cucumber in the sentinel plot in Balm in west-central FL. Severity levels are 35% (straight 8 cucumber), 10% (poinsett 76 cucumber), <5% (cantaloupe and butternut squash). Estimated date of first occurrence of symptoms was May 13, on the Straight 8. No updates on other areas to report.

The sentinel plot in Marion County, FL has CDM on Poinsett 76 cucumber. Symptoms are estimated to have appeared around April 25.

April 27
The sentinel plot in Collier County, FL now has CDM on Big Max pumpkin. Symptoms are fresh.

April 24
Cucurbit downy mildew has been reported on Straight 8 cucumber at an organic cucumber research plot near Citra in Marion County, FL. This 1-acre plot near the county line is showing both incidence and severity at about 10%. First symptoms are estimated to have appeared on April 17. Also, the sentinel plot in Collier County, FL near Naples is now symptomatic for Table Queen squash (April 20) and butternut squash (April 24).

April 15
Cucurbit downy mildew has been reported on cucumber (Straight 8) at the sentinel plot near Naples in Collier County, FL. Symptoms are new; incidence and severity stand at 1% and 35%, respectively, at this time. The latest update from Gene McAvoy's Southern FL Pest and Disease Hotline is quite similar to that of April 1, indicating that disease is present in southern FL at various levels on cucumber and squash.

April 1
Reports from southern FL (thanks to Gene McAvoy) indicate that CDM around Palm Beach County is severe on cucumbers and reaching high levels of activity in many squash fields. In southwest FL, observers report that disease is active in cucumbers with severe activity levels in some locales. Disease is also present in some squash fields, though activity levels are lower than on cucumbers. Low to moderate activity has been seen on squash in the Homestead area.

March 23
Cool temperatures had impact in early March on some cucurbits in the interior sections of the southern peninsula. Very dry conditions continue in southern FL. DM is present on squash at low levels in the Palm Beach County area. Activity continues on cucumber in the southwest FL region. Toward the Homestead area ... a report today indicates that CDM is present on squash, cucumber, cantaloupe, and giant pumpkin at the sentinel plot. Severity is 5% or less for each host. Information received earlier this month stated that CDM was present at low incidence levels on squash at other locations in far southeastern FL.

February 23
CDM is present on squash and cucumber in various areas across southern FL. Activity levels are variable. Recent cold temperatures produced damage to some host plants, mainly in the cooler interior sections. Reports indicate this damage was quite variable as well, both between and within fields. No other outbreaks have been reported.
